Jennifer and I got inspired to do some creative dressing up for the The Oregon Historical Society's "Oregon through the Decades" event. Out came the leather jacket and drainpipe black jeans. Jennifer put on a highly colorful set of makeup, and primped that hair and all she could to create that impression only the eighties could hold. Several hours later (yes, it took me that long to pour myself in to my jeans!) we headed downtown for the event.
We were a little late arriving but were warmly greeted at the door, and acknowledged for looking really great! We bee-lined for the remaining food/ snacks and gathered our drinks before heading outside. We met up with a bunch of other friends and friends of friends from the MAC. Unfortunately, it seemed we were over-dressed from the other guests. Not that I or Jennifer minded. We consider dressing up part of the fun, and a matter of public service making people smile. We did get to have a portrait with the British icon himself, Sir Winston Churchill. Living in the US, I am always reminded of his quote, "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing--after they've tried everything else!" -- Winston ChurchillNot quite sure why they rolled him out to celebrate Oregon History. I don't know he ever visited Oregon!
